Alan Nelson

Hi, I’m Alan Nelson, founder of Measured Money Maneuvers. My passion is to help military, veterans and military family members live their best and full rich lives. I enlisted in the Navy with the goals to serve our country, learn valuable skills, hopefully figure out what I wanted to pursue in life, and get my college education paid for, or at least get the GI Bill to assist with college later. I was fortunate to earn a commissioning program after a few years and went on to a career as a submarine officer. During my 25 years in the submarine force as a mustang officer, I strove to help my Sailors holistically – professionally, personally and of course, financially. I was frustrated by the predatory practices I saw impacting our military and their finances, so after transition I earned my CFP® to start my own fiduciary fee-only firm to support my tribe. Realizing how challenging career transition is from the military, I’ve spent years as a volunteer career transition coach and financial literacy educator and now combine these skills with comprehensive financial planning to help people navigate comfortably through all of life’s challenges and opportunities.

Omen Quelvog

I decided to become a financial planner in 2019 after realizing this was a passion, not a job. As I researched the landscape of this industry, particularly those businesses that target the military with high-cost insurance and investment products, I decided to become a fee-only financial advisor to avoid the pressure of selling products and compromising client trust in my motives. I retired from the Marine Corps in 2024 and immediately began working for Clear Insight Wealth Management. I passed the Series 65 Uniform Investment Law exam in October 2023. I also passed the CFP® exam in March of 2023 and am working to complete my experience hours requirement. I became a Military Qualified Financial Planner® in November of 2024. I am a member of my local Financial Planning Association and the Military Financial Advisors Association. When I am not “nerding” out behind a spreadsheet, I’m usually with my wife, exploring our local city of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Family is an essential part of my life, and my grown children, being actors and musicians, theater and music are significant parts of my life as well. I am also a musician and serve in various capacities within our Fredericksburg, VA communities.
