Vanessa Alanis

Hi, Iʼm Vanessa—a financial planner, mom, and military spouse with a deep understanding of the unique challenges military families face. My husband, a retired U.S. Marine, and I raised three amazing kids while moving ten times during his career. I know what itʼs like to juggle deployments, PCS moves, raising a family, and trying to maintain stability in a constantly changing environment. Over the years, Iʼve had the honor of serving military families as a caseworker with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and as a Personal Financial Counselor under a DoD contract, helping them gain clarity and confidence in their finances.

I opened Black Dog Wealth, a 100% remote fiduciary financial firm, so I could continue serving those who serve. I hold the AFC®, ChFC®, CFP®, and MQFP® certifications. I believe in continual education and work hard to provide the highest level of service possible. Financial planning should be empowering, practical, and tailored to real life. I donʼt just talk numbers; I meet people where they are and help them build a path toward financial freedom on their terms. When Iʼm not working, I enjoy horseback riding, hitting the gym, spending time with friends, and planning my next travel adventure.

Alan Nelson

Hi, I’m Alan Nelson, founder of Measured Money Maneuvers. My passion is to help military, veterans and military family members live their best and full rich lives. I enlisted in the Navy with the goals to serve our country, learn valuable skills, hopefully figure out what I wanted to pursue in life, and get my college education paid for, or at least get the GI Bill to assist with college later. I was fortunate to earn a commissioning program after a few years and went on to a career as a submarine officer. During my 25 years in the submarine force as a mustang officer, I strove to help my Sailors holistically – professionally, personally and of course, financially. I was frustrated by the predatory practices I saw impacting our military and their finances, so after transition I earned my CFP® to start my own fiduciary fee-only firm to support my tribe. Realizing how challenging career transition is from the military, I’ve spent years as a volunteer career transition coach and financial literacy educator and now combine these skills with comprehensive financial planning to help people navigate comfortably through all of life’s challenges and opportunities.

Omen Quelvog

Hi, Iʼm Omen—a retired Marine with 25 years of enlisted and officer active duty service. As a Military Qualified Financial Planner (MQFP®), I blend technical expertise with firsthand insight into the unique challenges of military life. Iʼve felt the weight of an ill timed PCS, balanced a single income while raising a family, and navigated deployments that re write every budget line. Those experiences now fuel my mission: helping fellow service members, veterans, and their families build lives of purpose, peace, and financial freedom.

I started Formynder Wealth Management to serve clients the way I always believed they deserved—fee only, fiduciary, and 100 percent client focused. From the first conversation, we work to align your money with what matters most—whether thatʼs a smooth military to civilian transition, making work optional, launching a second act career, or giving generously from a place of abundance. Based in Fredericksburg, VA and operating 100 percent remotely, Formynder Wealth Management meets you wherever duty—or life—takes you, across the country or around the world. If you want a trusted partner who understands the military lifestyle firsthand and is committed to empathetic, disciplined, and compassionate guidance, Iʼm here to help you chart your course—and adjust as the mission changes.
